A 13 week old pregnant woman with CIN 3(pap smear).What will you do next?


a)colposcopy
b)colposcopy+ biopsy
c)colposcopy+ loop excision
d)repeat after 36th week

b. Remember in pregnancy, a simple colposcopy and biopsy is NOT harmful to intrauterine gestation. However, LEEP procedure, cryotherapy or laser ablation (which she will require 6wks AFTER delivery), is harmful while pregnant.

During second or third trimesters the cervical area becomes more congested so any invasive producer is a risk factor for either patient or the featus.The pap smear is showing CIN3 so the best decission would be A[Ref Harrssons chap e6 (Neoplasia during pregnancy) 18 Edit.].
